When you think relaxing the first thing that comes to most of our minds is a bath.
Bath salts are an amazing addition to any bath, they provide a calming and rejuvenating experience.

A low cost and highly gorgeous essential oil bath salt recipe which only requires 3 ingredients that you will likely already have on hand.
Can I use magnesium flakes instead?
Absolutely you can. There is a difference, which I learned recently from the wonderful My Essential Alchemy.
Epsom salts are excellent for detoxing, however, they are better for a shorter bath (roughly 20 minutes). Otherwise, the toxins you’ve worked so hard to get rid of have a tendency to seep back in.
Magnesium flakes are better for longer baths, as this doesn’t occur.

How to make your bath salts
You will need
- 2 Cups of Epsom Salts
- 1/2 Cup of baking soda
- 20-30 drops of your favourite essential oils
- I used Lavender and Wild Orange
How to make it
1. Mix the salts and baking soda in a bowl
2. Add the desired essential oils and mix in slowly
3. Store salts in an air-tight container and use as needed!
I like to use roughly 3 tablespoons per bath, but you can use however much you feel comfortable with!
And bam! You have your very own bath salts.
The best part about this is that you can try any number of combinations.
I like to use Lavender by itself or Bergamot + Grapefruit!
